How Toyota’s Smart Key System Saves the Hassle

Ever walked up to your car with your hands full of groceries, children, or anything really, and realized your doors are locked? It sets off an annoying process where you empty your hands, with great difficulty, find your keys in your pocket or purse, unlock your doors, and then continue to load your stuff in. It’s even worse when it’s raining or snowing. But if your Toyota has the Smart Key System, that’s not an issue you’ll need to face.

What is Toyota’s Smart Key System?

Many new Toyota models are equipped with the Smart Key System. It’s the easiest way to access your vehicle without fumbling for your keys. A Smart Key looks like a vehicle remote, also called a fob. And instead of needing to press buttons or put the key in the lock cylinder, you just need to be nearby.
The Smart Key System uses a security code unique to your car that is recognized when you’re near the door. It’s like a security guard for your car – when it recognizes your Smart Key, you’ll allowed entry. If not, you get bounced!

How to Use Toyota’s Smart Key System

Jay Wolfe Toyota Sales and Leasing Specialist Ed McFadden shows us how to use Toyota’s Smart Key System.
You can keep your Smart Key in your pocket or bag – it just has to be with you.
Then, unlock your car. “All you have to do is put your hand in the handle and you hear it beep. That means it’s open.” Tug on the handle and you’ll see, your Toyota’s unlocked.
Locking the car is just as easy. After you close the door, just touch the top of the handle at the front and you’ll hear another beep, and the doors lock.
With Toyota’s Smart Key System, you’ll also have Push-Button Start, and it’s just as easy to use. Ed says, “You still have your fob in your pocket. Put your foot on the brake, start your car (by pressing the button), and drive away.”
Toyota’s Smart Key System is available on most makes and models. It’s just one of the features that makes owning a Toyota from Jay Wolfe Toyota so enjoyable!
