Memorial Day Matters at Jay Wolfe Toyota

May 26th, 2017 by

Once a year, during the month of May, the United States has a long weekend known as the Memorial Day Long Weekend. It’s a great opportunity to dust off the patio furniture, light the grill, or start off the camping season in style. With an extra day, the weekend is blissful!

But Memorial Day came at a great cost. It used to be known as Decoration Day, and its meaning is solemn. It involves the loss of life; a massive sacrifice given by so many for the sole purpose of keeping the United States of America free.

The Meaning of Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. On the last Monday in May, we pay tribute to the fallen who gave their lives so we can live free in America. When you wake in the morning, it’s because our Armed Forces personnel have fought, bled and died for that privilege. And on the morning of Memorial Day, flags are flown at half-staff from dawn to noon as a reminder of those who have sacrificed so much for us.

What Can You Do on Memorial Day?

If you have family who are in the military, spend time with them. Be a source of encouragement and a blessing to them, and tell them how much their military service means to you.

On the Monday, most businesses and offices are closed. Among your activities on Memorial Day, make sure to take part in a service or memorial, serve at a local Veterans’ Hospital, or place flowers at a war memorial.

At Jay Wolfe Toyota, we truly appreciate the Armed Forces who keep us safe and secure both at home and abroad. As a small token of our appreciation, we offer a military rebate on all new Toyota vehicles purchased at Jay Wolfe Toyota and financed through Toyota Financial Services.
